Create new imagery and repurpose your existing artwork as multi-color fine-art prints using the Japanese watercolor woodcut. You'll learn how to transfer images to woodblocks, carve using knives and gouges, and print with watercolors on a variety of Japanese papers. This non-toxic process is ideal for the studio and home setting. Although a beginning workshop, artists familiar with printmaking will learn something new in this innovative approach. Expect to make two-three editions of prints throughout this course.

$350 class fee

$100 materials fee covers:

  • Two shina woodblocks (will use both sides)
  • Rentable materials kit containing everything you need to carve or print at home (baren, knife set, printing brushes)
  • Japanese paper sheets to print two full editions (8-12 prints each with more paper available to purchase)
  • Bulk materials (watercolors, newsprint, paste, vellum, transfer paper)
